My favorite thing about working at Mt. Olive:
I really have enjoyed the family atmosphere at Mt. Olive. Working side by side with both the paid staff and the ministry volunteers has brought great joy and growth to my life. Having the freedom to “go for it” within the music ministry at Mt. Olive has been freeing.
My favorite Bible verse:
Isaiah 40: 28-31 > “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Ephesians 5:19 > “Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.”
My hobbies:
Iowa Hawkeye football. Playing basketball, softball, and golf. Coaching baseball/softball. Going to the movies and concerts. Singing with my family and friends. Jamming on the 12 string lyre. (JK!)
My family:
God has blessed me with an incredible family. My beautiful wife, Jennifer. My son, Aaron, and daughter, Jenna. Being a husband and dad is such an awesome experience and responsibility.
My most interesting experience:
Going on the missions trip to Hondurus to build a church for the Lenca Indians. Being on top of that mountain with no electricity, no running water, etc. was an “interesting” experience. I saw the hand of God in so many different ways every day. Through the incredible star-filled skies in the pitch-black nights, in the eyes and laughter of the Lenca children, in His provision of supplies, man-power, weather, finances, and in the friendships built with the Manuelito kids, Pastor Jorge and the Hawks. If you ever get the chance to step out of your comfort zone and be a part of something great for God, JUST DO IT!!

Activities have started with our new building project. You can see the beginnings of our extended parking lot, and the existing black top is being removed within the bounds of the new addition. Through the sacrificial offerings and commitments of our church family, we are happy to announce that we will break ground on the new building addition this July! This new addition includes a new youth center, Sunday School classrooms, a new foyer, a new music room, and more storage areas.
