What Mt. Olive Preschool is all about…..

Mission Statement: To provide a Christian atmosphere that will impact young lives with God’s love while guiding their growth physically, emotionally, socially, mentally and spiritually in preparation for kindergarten.

Purpose: Mt. Olive Preschool offers a Christ centered environment where all young children are welcome. We pray that each family will feel blessed and nurtured through the ministry of the preschool. It is our desire to give your child the very best educational and spiritual learning experience. We are called to serve families.

Guidance/Discipline: Preschool staff encourages and models expected behavior.  The limits or rules are explained frequently, briefly and simply: safety rules and rules regarding the treatment of others (kind, respectfully and gentle treatment of everyone).  It is our desire to teach the children self-respect and the respect of others so they may grow up to be happy, secure and confident individuals.

Learning: Mt Olive encourages opportunities for the growth and learning of the whole child; cognitive, spiritual, social, physical and emotional.  We use as a guide Foundations for Young Children offered by the Indiana Department of Education and endorsed by the National Association for Education of Young Children.

Art and Music: Your child will have daily opportunities to freely express their artistic talents!  We encourage unstructured art and music opportunities to enhance a child’s freedom, choices and creativity.  We will also offer occasional structured “crafts”, which will teach the child to follow simple instructions.  In addition, we will also offer organized music time to learn songs, motions and dance movements.

Physical education: The children will be given daily opportunities to use their large as well as small muscles. All age groups will play outdoors daily, as long as the children are comfortable and safe. Please send your child dressed appropriately for the weather.  The children will also be given opportunities for gross motor play in the fellowship hall when weather prevents outside play.
